NOTICE TO TERI WILLIAMS!

BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR KATHY KNOCHE!

Kathy has an eye on a certain press in a certain someone’s garage and would like to get together to plan a few workshops for AAWM members and friends. This is all about monotypes, but could include pastels, oil, and “what have you?”

THOSE LOVELY FLOWERS

Karen Spradling, a neighbor of Kathy Knoche, moved up from Phoenix when she retired as an interior designer. Karen, also presided over her own hour long radio program where she fielded questions along with other experts on interior design.

At age 14, it was through the influence of her high school art teacher that Kathy made her decision to keep art in her life. She claims her father reminded her that along with art she needed to consider the practical aspects of support and thus her work life of interior design.

Karen came to the U.S. In 1978. Though she did attend classes, she says that most of her art has been self taught. She has worked in most mediums and has gorgeous cats done in pastel and flowers in oil and acrylic, as well as seasonal landscapes.

AND WORKS OF PURE IMAGINATION

Thomas G. Morgan explains his wonderful pen and ink drawings of animals, insects, and people, as dots on paper which are mostly done from his vivid imagination and show both keen perception and child like wonder in the patient designs and surprises of figures and patterns coming together.

Even in the delicate beauty of a true scene from his home there are the imaginative hills and the stream that is just a bit wider than its twin.

IN PASSING

Among our Memorial weekend Saturday afternoon visitors to the Art Show, Walter and Addie Bethoon stopped to chat and Walter promised to consider bringing a metal, mechanical clock which is a recent sculpture, to our Christmas in July show at the Dance Academy. Walter says it even keeps “his” time.

ON THE LOOKOUT!

Suzanne Taylor and Ann Yarmal are looking into the possibility of starting an open studio to be held at the Academy on Saturday mornings beginning in July. It is anticipated that we will be hiring models to pose for life drawing and painting. Lee Sweetman at NPC is encouraging us and we will all be meeting to work out the details. Beverly Gries has generously agreed to our using the studio. More on this later in June.
